Khorixas Rest Camp offers value-for-money Khorixas accommodation in the heart of Damaraland. It is a great stopover when visiting Etosha National Park. The ancient rock art galleries of Damaraland is a popular attraction. Therefore, you can arrange day trips to see the rock engravings nearby.

The region is also famous for the migrating of the desert-adapted elephants and vast landscapes.

Twyfelfontein

Twyfelfontein is just 70 km from Khorixas Rest Camp. This is Namibia’s very own UNESCO World Heritage Site. Twyfelfontein means “fountain of doubt” in Afrikaans as the fountain only had water at certain times. The Damara called it Uri-Ais, meaning “jumping fountain”.

This area hosts 2500 rock paintings and engravings of the San people. It is believed to date back between 1 000 and 10 000 years! The images show hunters and game, including antelope, giraffe, zebra, lion, and even seals! Although the ocean is 100 km from this spot.
Today you can visit these ancient rock art sites with a guide.

Damaraland

The Damaraland region offers some community-based tourism projects, camps, and guides. The Damara people live a semi-nomadic lifestyle. The Damara culture shares some similarities with the San as they were also goat herders and trekked along these valleys for years.

Brandberg, Spitzkoppe and petrified forests are also unique attractions in this area.

Visiting Damaraland will take you back in time to discover the ancient cultures of our world. Navigating Damaraland feels like a roller coaster ride with all the hills and mountain tops everywhere. Geological marvels and spectacular views characterise this area.

These staggering rock boulders, mopane forests, and desert-adapted elephants all make this a fascinating region. Everything you can see and learn here really makes a stop at Khorixas Rest Camp worth your while!

Current published rates remain valid through 31 October 2026; the new rack rates apply from 1 November 2026 through 31 October 2027.
Rates are per person unless the table states otherwise. BB means bed and breakfast; DBB means dinner, bed and breakfast.
All prices are quoted in Namibian Dollars (N$), equivalent to the South African Rand, and include 15% VAT and tourism levies.
Children under 6 stay free for accommodation. Children aged 6–12 pay 50% of the adult accommodation and activity rate when sharing with adults. Children in their own chalet pay the adult rate, and no more than two children may share with their parents.
Participation by children under 6 in guided activities is at the camp manager’s discretion and at the parent or guardian’s risk.
Domestic discounts require documentary proof: qualifying Namibians, permanent residents and Namibia-based diplomats receive 25% off accommodation; qualifying Namibian pensioners receive 35% off accommodation rack rates.
Meals and activities are non-commissionable; hiking is non-discountable and non-commissionable. No activity pre-bookings are accepted during the rainy season.
